At around 7:30 on Wednesday 23rd of August staff were alerted to three children spotted trespassing on the runway at City Airport Manchester (Barton).

The children (who are thought to be from the local area) scaled a boundary gate to gain access and in doing so could've not only put themselves in danger but also aircraft both taking off and landing.

City Airport , (home to one of the North West Air Operations Group (NWAOG) helicopters) is a busy operational airport with aircraft taking off and landing all the time. Only those with clearance and authorisation are allowed access to the runway. It is a dangerous place to be.

If parents/guardians recognise these youngsters please let the airport know via 0161 789 1362 as they have passed on the photos (unblurred) to the police to investigate.

Love Your Neighbourhood Week, which ran from August 7 – 11, involved a series of activities designed to encourage Salfordians to show love for their area, including litter picks, community clean-ups and garden maintenance workshops.

Salix Homes’ Neighbourhood Teams joined forces with residents, councillors, local businesses and partner agencies to clean-up the area and encourage people to take pride in their communities.

Volunteers also filled eight skips full of rubbish and the housing association’s Environment Team cleared a mountain of fly-tipped waste, including old furniture and garden waste.

The week culminated with a family fun day at Ordsall Café, which saw the whole community come together to take part in a range of activities including giant games, face painting and a visit from Ranger Rob and his menagerie of reptiles.

Recent terror attacks have demonstrated the necessity for the public to be aware of the police’s Run, Hide, Tellmessaging, while specialist advice for companies operating in crowded places -split into different sectors such as major events, sport stadia, visitor attractions, bars, theatres and shopping centres- was also refreshed earlier this year.

Key advice for anyone would be, know the advice to keep yourself safe don't leave it to someone else to raise concerns around suspicious activity - ACT yourself to report it to police or security staff.

Key advice for anyone attending an event this summer

	· Please arrive early for extra security measures. This will help prevent delays in getting into the event.

· Be patient with security checks and help the staff to help you. We know it is inconvenient but they are there to keep you safe.

	· It is essential that you do not bring unnecessary items to the event; this will help to speed up searches and your entry to the event.

	· If you spot someone acting suspiciously, report it to police or to security staff immediately: don't leave it to someone else. #ActionCountersTerrorism

· In an emergency, if you think there is an immediate risk, always call 999 and look around you for help from staff - especially those with radios who can raise the alarm quickly.

	· Don't leave bags unattended or anywhere they could cause a security scare. And never agree to look after anyone else's bags, no matter how plausible their story.

· If there is an incident, listen to staff and any announcements. Organisers will have emergency plans to help you keep safe.

· Remember, the chance of being caught in a terrorism incident is small. But if it happens - Run, Hide, Tellgov.uk/ACT

A report is going to a special Council meeting on 23 August to authorise the council to use its borrowing powers to provide a temporary cash flow of up to £25m.

“We are asking for a decision to provide temporary funding so that works can continue to replace the ACM cladding as quickly as possible. The City Mayor has made clear that the safety of residents is of paramount importance. So we’re now taking the necessary steps to ensure works are undertaken.

“Everything is being done in the best interest of our residents.

“The regeneration work has been carried out under a PFI contract and whilst the council is not accepting liability for the works, we do believe that it is crucial that legal disputes do not prevent essential works being carried out.”

We have called on Government, as a city council and through the work of the Greater Manchester High Rise Taskforce, to financially support councils and housing associations so that they can respond swiftly to legitimate public concerns. Residents’ must be able to feel safe in their home, whatever their tenure.

“This is not an easy time for local authorities – government cuts have taken a severe toll on council budgets. This will be a strain on our resources but it is important that we respond effectively to address safety issues raised by the Grenfell Tower tragedy and we must do all in our power to ensure that a fire such as this never happens again.

“We are now awaiting the results of independent tests before we move ahead with a permanent replacement to the cladding.

“At the same time, partners are quantifying total costs by putting together a complete programme of works.”

TSOS launched last year and has grown in popularity ever since, drawing in dedicated listeners from all across the globe.

Station Owner/Manager Simon Williams announced that the station is set to expand its content with the aim of eventually going 24 hours a day.

A task we have no doubt will be achieved considering the stations already staggering success in beating the Americans at their own game by topping the US charts multiple times since the stations creation.

As part of those plans a new website is being created to make its content easier to access.

TSOS has gained a loyal cult following not only among Salfordian's at home but also our many expats spread around the planet who use the station to keep in touch of what is happening back home. The station boasts listener numbers that even commercial FM stations would be proud of.

Part of the stations draw is its no compromise attitude when it comes to promoting all things Salford, our local bands, our uniquely Salford culture and our Cities wide and varied collection of people.

Its popular shows encompass every section of Salford life, from the much loved Golden Girls show hosted by local lasses Norma and Noreen through to the Ian Cullen's Rock and Roll Years and From the Fans Mouth, a topical Rugby show hosted by Simon himself which is full of banter and info on our local team.

So the little station from Salford has BIG plans to build upon its previous successes and expand as it goes from strength to strength.

What started as a frontroom Podcast has grown exponentially into something Salford can be proud of.

If you are interested in doing a show on the station then you can get in touch with Simon via Facebook
