<p>
	On Sunday 7 January 2018, a woman presented herself at Cheadle Heath Police Station and disclosed that she had killed a man (thought to be her father) a number of years ago and buried his body in a garden on Matlock Road, Reddish.

<p>
	Officers immediately launched an investigation and today, Tuesday 9 January, a scene has been established in the garden.
</p>

<p>
	At this time, a body has not been found but enquiries are ongoing and the man’s family, who are being supported by specially trained officers, have been informed.  
</p>

<p>
	A 63-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.
</p>

<p>
	Anyone with information is encouraged to come forward.
</p>

	Detective Inspector Dan Clegg from GMP’s Major Incident Team, said:

			“Following the report, we’ve made a number of other enquiries and have today, with help from specialist officers, began searching in the garden.

			“It’s still very early days in our investigation but I’d like to thank the public so far for their support in allowing us to carry out our enquiries, I’m sure this has been worrying for people in the local area.”

	They both heard a loud bang before three men forced their way into their home, one of which ran upstairs and ransacked the front bedroom shouting ‘Where’s the money?’

	The other two men unplugged the landline and told the couple to sit down in the living room before attacking them with a broom and a metal pole.

<p>
	The men then tried to shut the couple in the living room but they pushed back, preventing it from shutting.
</p>

<p>
	The offending trio ran out of the house and over a wall, with a black handbag containing a large amount of cash, stolen from the house.
</p>

<p>
	The husband then ran to the front door and shouted for help. They were both taken to hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.  
</p>

<p>
	The men are all described as white, in their 20s and were wearing black clothing.
</p>

	Detective Sergeant Tim O’Callaghan of GMP’s Rochdale Borough, said:

			“I can only imagine how absolutely terrifying this must have been when the three men invaded this couple’s home, ransacking it for a quick win with no regard for their safety.  
		</p>

			“We’re yet to find out who they are and arrest them but we’re doing everything we can and I’d like to take this opportunity to appeal for any information people may have.
		</p>

		<p>
			“Although it was dark, it wasn’t late at night and there still would have been people in the area – it was just after the six o’clock news, people may have been coming back from work, eating their tea or walking around.
		</p>

		<p>
			“Whatever you were doing, if you heard something or saw something, please get in touch.”
		</p>

	Officers were called shortly after 10.30am on Saturday 6 January 2018 to a report that there was a body in the river in Bury, near to Railway Street.

	At this time there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding this man’s death. <br><br>
	However enquiries are ongoing to determine his identity and the circumstances which led to his death. 
</p>

	Until the body is identified police are still actively searching for missing man, Steven Dyson who was last seen leaving a party in Ramsbottom at 9am on New Years day.<br><br>
	Chief Inspector Tom Martin said:

			“Sadly today officers have found the body of a man in the river, but it is too soon to say if this is the body of Steven Dyson. <br><br>
			“His family are aware and we are offering them specialist support at this incredibly difficult time. <br><br>
			“I would like to thank everyone who came out and helped with the searches, and also the people who shared our appeals and supported the investigation. <br><br>
			“We are still actively looking for Steven and working to identify the man found in the river and the cause of his death. ”
