There will be planned carriageway resurfacing work going on overnight between Junction 13 (Worsley) and Junction 15 (Simister Island) on the M60 from Monday 3rd Feb for a period of up to two weeks.

The roadworks will affect both sides of the carriageway which will be coned off with temporary road markings in place.

Work will be carried out overnight Monday to Saturday between 9pm - 5am to reduce disruption on the motorway network, although at the weekend the hours will be extended until 7am.

Full overnight closures can be expected at sporadic times during the duration of the roadworks but these will be restricted to one carriageway at a time to minimise impact.

Update: Thanks to the power of Salford Jesus and a bit of jiggery pokery from the fire services the bridge is now down, I repeat the bridge is now down.

Motorists are being advised to avoid the area around the Salford Western Gateway Bridge which runs alongside the M60 Barton fly-over bridge in Eccles.

The warm weather has brought it to a grinding halt after it was raised to allow a ship to pass down the canal.

Traffic is queuing and it is unknown when it will be back in its down position so if you are heading home from work this evening then please take another route.
