Salford Community Media CIC (SCM) has been serving community-led news and media to the people of Salford since SalfordOnline closed its doors in 2016. Although the name of local news has changed, our values haven’t. The team at SCM are committed to delivering news you can trust. We work hard to make all of our reporting impartial, accurate and fair as well as engaging, entertaining and reflective of Salford’s diverse society and culture.

We operate on the the most minimal of budgets and don't have the financial clout of which some of the much larger regional news and media companies within our area enjoy, but alas, we have learned to make every penny count over the years and it has not stopped us from bringing you the news, often way before some of our much larger competition.

Pretty much all of our funding comes straight out of the pockets of our unpaid volunteer staff and from donations and funding grants.

None of us are paid, we do not take a wage and we do this purely out of a desire to see a real independent local media remain within Salford.

We are true local community-led media.

We are insanely proud in that we are based and operate from within the glorious City of Salford, known world-wide for its glorious golden beaches, celebrity residents, amazing nightlife and recent outbreak of Squirrel Pox.

Although we are Salford based, we cover news from around both Salford and the rest of Greater Manchester and also the UK and the rest of the world from time to time.
