Two independent opticians in Salford have merged their practices to safeguard the future of independent business in the town, giving back to a charity close to their hearts in the process.
Eyeline Opticians and Alan Miller Opticians have joined forces and will now trade from the former’s site on Fitzgerald Way.
Upon moving into the new premises, it was discovered that they had an excess of PPE and as a result have decided to donate this to a local charity that will be able to make better use of them.
The donations have been delivered to Humphrey Booth Day Centre, a charity located on Eccles Old Road. The charity provides a plethora of services to those in need, particularly the elderly, including general care, coffee mornings, entertainment and themed nights, and even assist with housing.
The charity means a great deal to both practices as many of them have personally witnessed the incredible work that they do. Upon receiving the donations, Humphrey Booth thanked the local Optical team.
Karen Russell, Practice Manager from Alan Miller Opticians, said:
Quote“They do so much for the community and they really do provide above and beyond care, helping people to make friends and building their confidence. These are people that deserve the same treatment and respect as everyone else and it’s a pleasure to be able to give something back to the charity”
Much like Humphrey Booth, caring for the community is very much a core value for the two practices. With just a few hundred metres separating the two practices, the merger will allow patients to receive an advanced level of eyecare from just a short distance away.
Patients from Alan Miller Opticians will also be able to take advantage of an extended frame selection at Eyeline Opticians. All patient records from Alan Miller Opticians, including contact lens details and supply, have been safely and confidentially transferred to the new premises at Eyeline Opticians.
In addition, familiar faces from Alan Miller Opticians, including Karen and Elaine, have joined the Eyeline Opticians team.
Ismail Bobat, Partner at Eyeline Opticians, said:

“All of the team are really excited for this merger, it’s a fantastic opportunity to combine two practices who really value offering a personalised service.
“I’m delighted that Karen and Elaine have moved across to our team; we value their experience and expertise and I think it’s only going to improve the eyecare experience for both sets of patients.
“Of course, we’re really looking forward to welcoming the dedicated and loyal patients of Alan Miller Opticians and, as they will be seeing some familiar faces, we can guarantee their welcome will be a warm one.”

“We’d also like to thank our patients for their loyalty and patience over the last year and we’re really committed to rewarding that by providing the best possible service at our new home.”
Eyeline Opticians are continuing to provide sight tests, contact lens fittings and aftercare.
