British Transport Police have released a CCTV image (which we have removed from this article because we have been told the person is a minor) of a person of interest that they wish to talk too in connection with an assault which happened at Swinton Train Station.
The 16-year-old victim was sat waiting with a friend waiting for a train when two other girls entered the station and stood on the same platform.
A verbal altercation between the two groups ensued and the two girls left the station.
A short while later they returned and one of the girls began attacking the victim. She repeatedly punched the victim in the head before pulling her to the ground and kicking her body and head.
The attack continued as the girl pulled the victim across the platform by her hair and stamped on her head several times. The assault stopped when the driver of an incoming train intervened.
Officers believe the girl in the CCTV image may have vital information which could help their investigation.
If you recognise her, or have any information, please contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 622 of 22/04/22.
