  • 26-YEAR-OLD MAN STABBED DURING AN ALTERCATION ON CHURCH STREET IN ECCLES YESTERDAY EVENING

    Police were called to the scene of a stabbing on Church Street in Eccles yesterday evening (Thursday 1st October).

    It is said that the stabbing took place during an incident between two men and that a 26-year-old received a stab wound to his arm. As a result he was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

    The altercation took place close to Eccles Parish Church which was temporarily cordoned off whilst police conducted enquiries.

    A spokesperson for GMP said:

    "At around 6.40pm on Thursday police were called to reports of a stabbing on Church Street in Eccles.

    "Initial enquiries have established that the incident happened during an altercation between two men.

    "Emergency services attended and a 26-year-old man was taken to hospital with a stab wound to his arm where he remains in a stable condition."
