Police were called just after 8am on Thursday 19 November 2020 after a report of a 39-year-old man attending hospital with a gunshot wound to the foot.
The shooting took place earlier that morning around 5am, near to Cromwell Road in Salford.
Detectives launched an investigation and yesterday (Monday 21 December 2020) officers executed a firearms warrant at an address in Salford and arrested a 35-year-old man on suspicion of section 18 assault, firearm offences and money laundering.
He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
Five further firearms warrants were executed in Salford and Lancashire in relation to the investigation.
Detective Inspector Chris Horsfield, of GMP's Salford CID, said:
