Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that the man was pronounced dead after being rushed to hospital.
The man who was in his 40s has not been named by police as yet, we are aware that a name is going around on Social Media but we ask that you do not name him in the comments out of respect for his family.
There are no suspicious circumstances involved with his death and his next of kin are currently being informed.
We would like to offer our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends at this sad time.

A man has reportedly been removed from the water, at the moment his condition is unknown
Emergency Services are currently on scene at Ontario Basin on Salford Quays undertaking an underwater search.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesmen has confirmed officers were called to the scene at around 5.50pm on Friday 10 August 2018 after receiving reports that a man had entered the water near to Capital Quays in the Salford Quays area and had not resurfaced.
Police and the Fire Service have attended and an underwater search using specialist equiptment is taking place.
Metrolink has suspended tram services between Eccles, Media City and Cornbrook whilst the incident is underway.
Update: Services will operate MediaCityUK - Eccles in both directions and Ashton - Deansgate in both directions. There will be no services operating between MediaCityUK - Cornbrook. We apologise for any inconvenience.
