Police were called after reports of yet another firearms discharge on a Salford street, the 26th shooting in the city since last January.

This time a dog unfortunately received a gunshot wound but fortunately we can report that it survived the attack and it is not thought that it was the intended target.

At around 10:30am yesterday morning (Tuesday 25th Feb), police responded to a report of a firearms discharge at a property on Lissadel Street which had apparently taken place the night before at around 10:30pm.

Three masked men reportedly knocked on the door fired upon the property as the door was opened before fleeing the scene.

An area was temporarily cordoned off as forensics officers carried out searches.
