The body has now sadly been formally identified as 24-year-old Hiran Chauhan, who was reported missing on Thursday 4 July 2019.
A man aged 32 from the Salford area was arrested on suspicion of murder and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Police are continuing to appeal for information.
Shortly before 8.10am on Tuesday 9 July 2019, police were called to a wooded area close to Eccles Old Road, where it meets the junction of Brentwood, to reports that a body had been found.
Detectives are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who has information or has any video footage captured between 11.10pm on Tuesday 2 July 2019 and 9am on Tuesday 9 July 2019 on Eccles Old Road between Weaste Lane and Castleway including Rivington Road.
Detective Chief Inspector Colin Larkin, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said:
