Council Officers gave the recommendation earlier this week to pass the 209 home development which developer 'Bellway' want to build upon the former playing fields of St Georges Catholic School in Walkden.

However, it was revealed that important documents were left unavailable to view on the Councils planning portal due to an I.T. Glitch, councillors decided to defer the decision until later in the month to allow time for the documents to be properly reviewed.

This is now the second time that the decision has been postponed, having been already deferred in May this year.

A local resident opposed to the development, who wished to remain nameless, said,

    Quote

"It's an utter shambles on the Council's behalf but well done to the Councillors for deferring it until a later date."

    A council spokesman said,

    Quote

“An investigation by the IT team found there was an issue publishing some documents to the website. So unfortunately it’s unclear as to whether residents have had sufficient opportunity to view those plans.”
