The night of the 22nd of May 2017 was a night that would never be forgotten by the people of Manchester, a night that would see 22 people callously slaughtered as crowds prepared to exit a packed Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester Arena.

As parents awaited their children in the foyer, British born Muslim of Libyan ancestery, Salman Ramadan Abedi, detonated a bomb hidden in his backpack which was so powerfil it was capable of killing anyone stood within a 20 metre radius outright.

In total 22 innocent people lost their lives, many of them children who had gone to see the concert, up to 250 others were caught up in the blast and injured , with countless others left holding emotional scars which will last them a lifetime.

The senseless killing of these innocents prompted scenes of mourning that Greater Manchester has never seen before, and hopefully will never bear witness to again.

Today, Hashem Abedi, brother of Salman, stood in the dock at the Old Bailey to enter his pleas of not guilty to the 22 counts of murder which were read to him by the courts clerk.

As each charge was read out he replied 'Not Guilty', the same response given when read the additional charges of conspiracy to murder and conspiracy to cause an explosion to endanger life.

The start of the trial was put back until January the 13th 2020 and he was remanded back into custody.
