  • ARREST MADE AFTER ECCLES STABBING

    Police say that they have arrested a 19-year-old male on suspicion of wounding with Intent to cause GBH and Possession of a Bladed Article in a public place, after a stabbing in Eccles on Tuesday (14th June).

    The victim, a 29-year-old man, was taken to hospital with a none life threatening wound to his leg after being stabbed in the grounds of Eccles Parish Church.

    A police spokesman, said:

    On Tuesday 14th June at 7.15pm a 29yr old male was stabbed in the leg following a disagreement with the offender. The circumstances are not clear yet, as to why this occurred.

    The victim was taken to hospital where he is recovering from his injuries. Fortunately they were not life threatening.

    At around 9am this morning a 19yr old male was arrested, near to the scene, for Wounding with Intent to cause GBH and Possession of a Bladed Article in a public place. The investigation is ongoing.

    Myself and my team will be in the town centre over the next few days to reassure the public and answer any concerns you may have.
