  • BOARDMAN BEARS LIFT THE TROPHY IN LACROSSE FINAL

    Salford News

Boardman Bears Under 11 team won the JINGLA Cup in a thrilling game at Monton Sports Club today by beating Mellor, 7-3.

We were invited down by Rob McGowan whose daughter and son play respectively for the Bears and Bulldogs.

I will be honest and admit that I know nothing about the game or the rules but from the face off -the action was non stop as both teams showed fighting spirit and determination as they battled away to win the trophy and medals.

The game was played over four 15 minutes sections, with the goals flying in at both ends which made for a great match with the time flying by.

Sadly there could only be one winner and Boardman Bears had the edge on the day and were well deserved winners.

The presentation of the trophy and medals saw scenes of unbridled joy from the girls and it was heartwarming to see them celebrate with glee.

I can heartily recommend the game for any youngster who loves sport and Boardman are crying out for more players off all ages and genders, also they will train you and provide the basic equipment needed, goggles and Lacrosse stick free of charge, how good is that.

We did video the game and highlights which have been included and we will be showing interviews  on our new Saturday Morning sports show, with Rob and David Griffiths the Chairman of Boardman and Eccles Lacrosse Club in which he tells us the fascinating history of the club which was established in 1906 and it's rich Eccles heritage.

If you wish further information contact them on their Facebook Page Boardman and Eccles Lacrosse Club.
