    Salford News

Earlier this morning a large emergency service response descended on Clifton Country Park after reports of a possible body having been seen in the River Irwell at Clifton Country Park.

Shortly after 10.45am on Sunday 14 March 2021, police were called to reports from a concerned member of the public that a possible body had been found in the River Irwell in Clifton Country Park in Salford.

Emergency services were quickly on scene and part of the park has been cordoned off to the public.

Unfortunately we have the sad duty to report that the body of a male thought to be aged in his 50's has been been recovered from the River.

An incident unit from the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Services (GMFRS) was seen parked at the entrance of the park this morning as responders made their way to the location where the body was reportedly seen.

Underwater Search teams were deployed to the area whereupon they located the body of the man in the water.

We will continue to update this article when we have further details.
