Following intelligence from the community, officers carried out a search of land off Duchy Road today (Tuesday 12 February) and a potentially viable device was found.

Bomb disposal were called and are currently in attendance.

A cordon has been put in place as a precaution and we would ask people to avoid the area.

Police stress that this is not believed to be terrorism related.

GMP’s Serious and Organised Crime Group officers, working alongside Salford’s Operation Arctic Team, are investigating and enquiries remain ongoing.

GMP works with partner agencies to tackle and dismantle organised crime groups across Greater Manchester.

This includes working with children and young people to steer them away from crime as well building better relationships with communities to gather intelligence.
