The Friends of Peel Park are excited to announce the addition of a Chatty Bench at Peel Park, Salford.
David Marsden, Secretary of the Friends of Peel Park group explains:
Quote
We wanted to provide an area in the park where people can connect with one another. The park is such a beautiful outdoor space and a huge diverse cross section of people use this space regularly.
A Chatty Bench gives people an opportunity to chat and communicate when they may just be feeling lonely and isolated, or simply just like to chat
Anyone who sits on the bench is encouraged to chat to other users of the bench. We have teamed up with local mental health based charity START, who have their base local to the park. They already had introduced Chatty benches in other Salford locations including Walkden and Salford Quays so they were more than happy to endorse our bench.
Mental Health Awareness week is in May (15th to 21st) so we thought this was a great time to introduce our bench which we hope will prove another asset to this wonderful park and become a permanent feature
The bench can be found on the main path in the park just in front of the play area and we encourage people to utilize it.
If you are passing this bench and see someone sat on please take 5 minutes out of your day to take a seat and chat away.
You may make all the difference to someone else day
The Friends of Peel Park are a voluntary organization who’s main aim is the keep Peel Park a great place to visit
