  • CLONED CAR DRIVER DETAINED AFTER STOLEN VEHICLE ABANDONED DURING POLICE PURSUIT

    The driver of a stolen and cloned Audi A1 from Oldham was detained after abandoning the car on Teak Drive in Clifton during a police pursuit, after being identified by Greater Manchester Police's eagle-eyed SRT Tasking Team.

    The driver was caught after attempting to flee on foot through gardens, however, it is thought that others in the car escaped from the scene.

    The driver was upon investigation, found to be in possession of Class A drugs and the car key.

    The vehicle had been stolen in March.

    A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police Traffic said:

    “Cloned Audi A1 sighted by SRT Tasking Team on Manchester Road Clifton.

    “The car would make off and was found abandoned seconds later on Teak Drive.

    “The occupants were chased through gardens and one male detained hiding in a driveway. Car stolen from Oldham in March.

    “The male arrested in the stolen Audi A1 was taken to custody and when searched was found in possession of a class A and the car key.

    “He’s got some explaining to do in the morning.”
