Police are currently responding to an incident on Cromwell Road close to the Shell petrol station this afternoon after reports of another shooting in Salford.
Officers were called after a 39-year-old man self reported to hospital with a gunshot wound to his foot, echoing a similar incident which happened just days ago on nearby Littleton Road, when a man also self reported with a gunshot wound to his hand.
However, police are saying that both incidents are not being considered as being linked.
The area around the garage has been taped off and Cromwell Road is closed in both directions as search teams scour the area, although the garage itself is still open to the public on foot.
A spokesman for GMP said:
Quote
"Police were called just after 8am this morning (Thursday 19th November) to a report of a 39-year-old man reporting to hospital with a gunshot wound to the foot.
"Enquiries are ongoing but this is not believed to be linked to any other incidents at this time.
"No arrests have been made."
This makes this now the third shooting incident in Salford within a week after shots were fired at a 20-year-old cyclist in Winton.
