There were poignant scenes at Peel Green Cemetery today as 100's of people lined the route to the Chapel, many dressed in their Manchester United tops as Kevin had requested.
A lone piper lead the funeral cortege playing the John Denver classic, "Take Me Home Country Roads" which has been sung on the terraces of Old Trafford for many years with the words, "Take Me Back To Old Trafford".
Along with 100's more I stood outside the Chapel and listened to the service led by Father martin Collins from St Marys R.C. Church which was piped outside to a loudspeaker, inside the Chapel there was standing room only, an indication of how Kevin was loved and admired.
I stood with a few "old school" Reds and tales were told of away matches and the scrapes that Kevin would often get involved, one that happened in a McDonalds in Denmark as United played Brondby F.C.in 1998 is hilarious, and sadly not printable!
In his Eulogy friends spoke of Kevin's childhood and despite being disabled he saw this as no obstacle and often treated it as a challenge, he led a full life, became one of the first computer experts in Eccles and setting up his own computer business and training others, he then set up Porky Pigs Cafe in Peel Green, always on the go.
Kevin despite being small in stature was a giant amongst men in so many ways, his life story should not only be an inspiration to others but made into a book if not a film, so many stories about him, it seems everybody has their own story to tell about him...a true character and Eccles will be a little sadder without him
Finally I would like to doff my cap to all those who attended today, you did him proud, we can't ask for more.
