Commuters sat patiently awaiting a bus at Eccles station, got a little closer to the number 20 than expected this morning.

The bus which is operated by Diamond Buses and takes a route from Bolton to The Trafford Centre via Eccles, somehow managed to collide with the station causing damage to both the facia and roof of the building.

The bus itself took damage in the form of a dent and broken window.

Part of the station was cordoned off whilst metal sheets hanging from the roof were made safe.

It is unclear as to how the bus managed to hit the building but it has done considerable damage.

We have been told that there were no serious injuries to passengers or bystanders and those on the bus were transferred to another bus to carry on their journey.
