We told you how the artist Deano had kindly donated a piece of his artwork, an Ian Brown painting for our charity auction to raise much needed cash for local foodbanks, it was purchased by Joan Fielder the CEO at Helping Hands, Irlam for £100, a bargain if I say so myself.

Today we dropped the money at our three designated foodbanks, The Salford Unemployed Community and Resource Centre, Mustard Tree, Eccles, and Emmanuel Church, Langworthy Road, Salford foodbank.

It looks like we appeared just in time at the Unemployed Community Centre, the Breakfast Club organiser, Helen Barker told us that their food supplier, FareShare in Trafford Park, were having troubles with their refrigeration units and were unable to deliver their food today.

Happily the cash donation solved the problem for today, supplies were sourced and it's all back to normal as breakfast's were served up.

John Howard the Manager tells me that they have been donated warm winter coats by Salford Rotary Club, there are 10 Ladies and 20 men's available on a first come first served with strictly one per person.

Onto Mustard Tree, Eccles were Branch Coordinator, Georgia Breen accepted the money and told us,

    Quote

"I would like to give a massive thank you to Deano and Joan Fielder for their kindness, this money will go straight into purchasing food for the foodbank, sadly we are seeing more and more people coming through our doors, we are serving on average, about 60 people a day and we are being stretched to our limits, so every donation is invaluable, many thanks"

Finally we called in at The Emmanuel Church to see Peter Simms another unsung Salford hero to hand over the money, again the queue for the foodbank was huge with more people arriving all the time.

    Quote

"We are so grateful for this money as we are quickly running out of food and we would all like to thank Deano and Joan for their much needed help, as you can see by the number of families we are helping, the situation is getting worse, and if anybody can help in any way, no matter how small we would be delighted and thankful to receive"

To be honest it was quite depressing to see all these people in need of help, but we can't give up on them, and we wont, so if you can donate any tins, pasta, toiletries etc to your local foodbank, please give it to them, things are serious and not getting any better.
