  • DRIVER CUT FROM VEHICLE AFTER AN ACCIDENT ON MANCHESTER ROAD BETWEEN CLIFTON AND KEARSLEY

    An traffic accident just after the Unity Brook Inn on Manchester Road between Kearsley and Clifton has blocked the carriageway in both directions. There are reports of long tailbacks and delays in both directions.

    Police were called to the scene around noon after a reports of an accident involving a maroon coloured Toyota car.

    It is currently unclear as to how the vehicle ended up on the central reservation but there are no reports of any other vehicles being involved in the incident.

    The road was closed in both directions as a fire service technical response team went to work with cutters to free the occupant who was cut free from the wreckage and placed on a spinal board before being taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

    Transport for Greater Manchester tweeted:

    "Due to a Police incient, the A666 Manchester Road in Kearsley is currently closed in both directions near the Unity Brook Inn. Find an alternate route."
