  • ECCLES RED LEGEND KEVIN PEEK HAS DIED

    Salford News

I was saddened to read the news today of Kevin Peek a familiar figure around for many years and a lifelong Manchester United supporter who travelled the world to support his team.

Kevin was a remarkable character who didn't let his physical disabilities hold him back, he could be seen in his wheelchair in many a pub in Eccles playing pool and loving life, I think he played for a pool team in Eccles.

He ran a computer workshop for a while in the old bank in Patricroft and held classes where he taught computer skills, nothing held him back.

I remember interviewing him when he opened Porky Pigs Cafe in Peel Green which was once a public convenience and he told me straight faced that on the menu was Pee Soup and Brown Windsor Soup I won't go into detail about the Chocolate Log he assured me that he sold...

Many will remember Kevin for his fervent support for Manchester United and was a Season Ticket holder for many years and  both loved and admired by both the club and it's fans.

I would love to hear your memories of this most remarkable man, Eccles has lost a true character and a Gentleman.
