  • ERIC CANTONA PORTRAIT SALE HELPS THE MUSTARDS TREE EMERGENCY FOODBANK

    Salford News

Once again Manchester United legend comes to the rescue and saves the day, sadly not with his football prowess, how I wish it could be....

Brian Gorman our favourite artist generously donated his portrait of Eric the King to us,, so we could auction it off to raise money for The Mustard Tree emergency foodbank in Eccles, their was firm bidding for it but in Fergie time, Steve Roach stroked home the winner with a £150 bid.

Today I called into the Mustard Tree shop to hand over the cash to the shop manager, Georgia Breen, who thanked us profusely and said:

"We are delighted to receive this marvellous cash donation and I would like to thank Brian Gorman and Steve Roach for their generosity and Salford.media for arranging this auction.

The money will be spent wisely, sadly we are always in need of donations, be it food, clothing, furniture etc and we can always collect, if you contact us on 0161 228 7331"

Another happy ending which is what we like, so if you think you can help Mustard Tree or your local foodbank, then don't hesitate to do it, I'm certain we all have the odd tin of food left over from Christmas lurking at the back of the cupboard which we never got round to eating, donate it!

I personally would like to thank Brian Gorman for his continuing generosity in handing over his portraits, he tells me he is moving to Chester but have no fear, he is still painting and writing etc, so I would like to ask you to help support him, he admits himself to being possibly the lowest payed artist in England, here is a link to his artwork so have a look at it and hopefully purchase a piece of original artwork

Finally a huge thank you to Little Hulton born, Steve Roach who put his hand in his pocket and purchased the artwork.
