  • ERIC CANTONA SCORES WITH MUSTARD TREE ECCLES

    Salford News

Last month we reported that the multi talented, artist, author and actor Brian Gorman kindly donated his portrait of Manchester United footballer Edison Cavani to be sold to the highest bidder to raise much needed for the Mustard Tree, Eccles emergency foodbank and it raised a generous £100.

Brian promised us that he would do a portrait once a month and donate it free of charge to be sold for the charity, and I caught up with him yesterday, for a quick chat and to pick up the new artwork.

He certainly hasn't let us down as he handed me this stunning portrait of Eric Cantona in all his swaggering pomp, and he has captured Eric the King to the proverbial T, this is how I remember at Old Trafford as he strode the turf with that Gallic arrogance that can only come when you are a football genius, and how we could do with now...

"I am more than happy to help the foodbank out, when I heard that you had sold the Cavani painting, I genuinely felt humbled knowing that in some small way I had helped feed a family for a week or so.

By no means am I a rich artist, possibly the poorest and lowest paid in the country if the truth be known, so if I can help in any small way, perhaps others may consider doing the same.

And I will continue to donate a portrait every month as I promised, perhaps your readers can choose who they would like a portrait of, I was considering doing Thomas Shelby from Peaky Blinders he is quite topical at the moment, it's up to you"

If you wish to purchase this portrait and I hasten to add that we will have it framed for you, this is what you have to do....

Send your bid in either after the story on Facebook or if you wish to remain anonymous being filthy rich or if you are on the  Witness Protection Scheme email us at newsdesk@salford.media

So please give generously and have that warm inner glow, knowing that you have done a good deed, you know it makes sense.
