Police evacuated homes on Neville Drive in Irlam after discovering a potentially explosive device during a raid in relation to an assault which happened earlier today Monday (June 13th).

A cordon was put in place and police evacuated nearby homes as a precaution.

An army bomb disposal unit was seen to be attending at the scene with locals reporting that a robot had entered a home.

However, it was soon established to be a false alarm as the device turned out to be just a firework.

Locals were allowed back into their homes shortly afterwards.
