We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the friends and family of a fine Salfordian, Gordon Noel McKenna, who we are shocked to hear, has sadly passed away.

I, (Carl), had the privilege of working alongside Gordon during our campaigning to save the city's beloved 'Salford Children's Holiday Camp' in Prestatyn from closure, a place both he and I, loved and held fond memories of.

Gordon was an instrumental part of the team which convinced Salford City Council that the 'Jam butty Camp' now known as 'Salford By The Sea' was still viable and was still needed by the families and children of the City.

He made sure that the campaign was visible in both local and national media and would regularly appear on TV and Radio to champion the cause.

If Gordon was not campaigning for the camp, he always made himself available to get his hands mucky and help with it's renovations.

It is a true testament to him and the rest of the team at the camp that it remains open for business and is thriving to this day, and it is true to say that Gordons hard work was integral to it's success.

Gordon was an amazing person with a wicked sense of humour, always willing to help and get stuck in.

Another sad loss to our City, he will be sadly missed.
