Firefighters were called to bin which had been set alight on Chadwick Street close to the rear of the Asda store car park in Swinton yesterday evening. The flames had started to spread to the exterior of a nearby building.
Three fire engines from Whitefield, Agecroft and Eccles were dispatched the the scene and the fire was quickly contained and extinguished.
It has not been revealed as to how the fire started but locals who witnessed the blaze say that a group of youths were seen in the area not long before the fire broke out.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said:

“Just before 8pm on Monday 14 March, fire crews were called to reports of a fire outside a commercial building on Chadwick Street, Swinton.
“Fire engines from Whitefield, Agecroft and Eccles stations quickly attended the incident, which involved a bin fire which spread to the exterior of a nearby building.
“Firefighters used a short extension ladder and a hose reel to extinguish the fire.
“GMFRS crews were in attendance for around half an hour.”
