    Salford News

It is with greatest sadness we have the duty to report upon the sudden death of a Salford Council Stalwart, Councillor John Ferguson.

John represented the Pendlebury Ward in Salford for many years, a staunch Labour Party activist and a proud socialist, always keen to champion his local constituents and the City he called home.

As a life-long trade unionist he was well placed in his role as lead member for workforce and industrial relations, he has been described by many as an endless source of knowledge and encouragement to so many.

    He will be sorely missed.

Salford Council have issued the following statement:

    Quote

"It is with great sadness that we are today sharing the news that Councillor John Ferguson has passed away.

"Councillor Ferguson represented the ward of Pendlebury and was lead member for workforce and industrial relations.

"Our thoughts are with family, friends and colleagues.

"The flags at the civic centre will remain lowered."

We wish to pay our condolences to his fellow colleagues, his friends but most of all his family at this tragic time.
