Young people who want to organise events for young people and their local community could get up to £150 towards it.

The funding is being made available by Salford City Council which has supported the annual celebration of the great things young people do since 2012. Applications must be received by Friday, June 15.

Councillor Lisa Stone, lead member for children’s and young people’s services, said:

    Quote

“Young people, aged 11 to 25, make an incredible and very positive difference to Salford, from being young carers to fundraising, campaigning, taking action and putting our city on the map through their talent.

“Youth Day is a chance for young people to showcase what they contribute to our city through organising events. Last year we saw everything from art exhibitions to community tea parties and had fantastic feedback from everyone who joined in.

“We want youth centres, schools and any local groups that work with young people to get involved to make Youth Day even bigger and better this year.”

Applicants are asked to hold their event on Friday, August 10, Youth Day itself, or as close to as possible and young people must take the lead on planning and delivering the event.  All bids for funding are judged by Salford Youth Council, Fight for Change and the Young Carers Board.
