  • FUNNY BURNING SMELL? SOMEONE HAS SET TYRES ON FIRE IN ORSDALL

    We are being asked what the funny smell in the air is around Ordsall?

    Salford folks have been reporting a smell of burning rubber and that is exactly what it is, as someone has set alight a number of tyres on waste ground near to Robert Hall Street.

    Black smoke could be seen rising above the area and drifting towards the area.

    There is no risk to life or property.

    Firefighters are currently on scene and tackling the blaze.

    "At around 7.40 pm this evening (Thursday 10 September), one fire engine from Salford fire station was called to reports of a fire involving a large quantity of tyres on open land near Robert Hall Street, Salford.

    "Firefighters arrived quickly and are currently tackling the fire using one hose reel. The crew remains at the scene."
