    Update 23:11 | Cordon now lifted and people back in their homes.

    Update 21:06 | It is being reported that it is a ruptured gas pipe and residents in surrounding homes have been evacuated until it can be made safe, teams are on site and are carrying out repairs with the ETA expected to be 1.5 hours.

    Greater Manchester Emergency services are responding to a 'Major' gas leak on Gerald Road, several homes have been evacuated as a precaution, part of the area has been cordoned off and a strong smell of gas is reported in the air.

    The incident is still on going.
