The A57 bridge was closed on the 13th of this month (Jan) to carry out essential repairs which could not be completed during an earlier work carried out in December 2019.

The closure has had a huge impact as it has meant that more traffic has been funnelled onto the areas other roads and bridges and for many the route home has gotten a whole lot longer.

Relief is on the way however as work is commencing nicely and the bridge is on schedule to be reopened by next Friday the 24th of Jan.

The work has been carried out in order to improve the mechanical maintenance of the bridge as well as perform essential maintenance.

The contractor Hocheif apologised for the inconvenience caused and said it was doing all it could to minimise disruption.

The Go Northwest bus route has been affected and diverted so if you are using that route please be aware.
