GREATER MANCHESTER EMERGENCY AND MEDICAL SERVICES AWARDED

Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall presented the Barclays Women of the Year award to Naomi Davis, Assistant Chief Constable Debbie Ford, PC Lauren Moore, Cath Daley, Vicky Wijeratne, Laura Prescott, Lea Vaughan and Shoba Manesh who received it on behalf of the Manchester Emergency and Medical Services

The Women of the Manchester Emergency and Medical Services were today (Monday 16 October 2017) honoured with The Barclays Women of the Year Award at the Women of the Year Lunch & Awards at the InterContinental London, Park Lane.

The award was presented to Naomi Davis, Assistant Chief Constable Debbie Ford, PC Lauren Moore, Cath Daley, Vicky Wijeratne, Laura Prescott, Lea Vaughan and Shoba Manesh on behalf of the Manchester Emergency Services. When the bomb exploded in the Manchester Arena the women of the Emergency Services immediately galvanised into action. Everybody, from ordinary citizens to members of the emergency services and health care professionals behaved in ways that were way beyond the call of duty.

Jane Luca, who lives in the North West and is Chair of Women of the Year, said:

“These women represent the remarkable and brave response by the Greater Manchester emergency and medical services to the Manchester arena bombing in May, and became beacons of their community as they went above and beyond to care for and reassure victims, family members and the public. This award is thoroughly deserved and we salute them all.”

The 2017 Women of the Year Awards pay tribute to the emergency and medical response teams, both here and abroad. The winners have been recognised for their selfless professionalism and heroism during the ceremony and lunch at the InterContinental London Hotel, Mayfair.

Women of the Year president, Sandi Toksvig hosted a group of 400 specially invited women, all honoured as a ‘2017 Woman of Achievement;’ selected for their resilience, resourcefulness, and selfless actions.

Every woman who is invited to the event has achieved something extraordinary in whatever walk of life she comes from. The lunch is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate their bravery, determination, compassion and success.

ITV Lorraine viewers voted for their Inspirational Woman of the Year by a telephone vote.
