At around 5.15pm on Sunday 1 April 2018 a 52-year-old man was stood outside the Duke of York pub on Church street with a couple of friends.
Two men – who claimed to have arrived from Poland a few days earlier - approached the group and one of the men hugged the victim.
While hugging him he then bit off a piece of his ear.
The victim went to hospital but unfortunately, surgeons were unable to reattach the piece of ear.
Detective Constable Cathy Blain, from GMP’s Swinton CID, said:

“This was a completely unprovoked attack on the victim who was out enjoying a drink with his family and friends.
“It has left him with life-changing injuries, and physically unwell, due to the stress and anxiety it has caused him.
“Someone must know the man pictured. He has distinctive features and is believed to be based in Eccles town centre.
“I am asking anyone who knows who this male is to contact us. “
