  • INVESTIGATION AFTER ANOTHER DEATH AT HMP FOREST BANK

    A man has sadly died whilst being held in custody at HMP Forest Bank this Sunday (1st September), making it the fourth death at the prison this year and the fifth death within the last fourteen months.

    An investigation into how the man died has now been launched by the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman.

    Prison staff could not comment further due to the investigation.

    A spokesperson for HMP Forest Bank said,

    “We can confirm there was a death in custody at HMP Forest Bank on Sunday, 1st September.

    “Deaths in custody are a tragedy and our thoughts are with the family.

    “As with any death in custody, there will be an investigation by the independent Prisons and Probation Ombudsman and therefore we are unable to comment further at this stage.”
