INVESTIGATION OPENED FOLLOWING ANOTHER PRISONER DEATH AT FOREST BANK

An investigation is underway following the death of a prisoner at the 1,300 capacity Sodexo managed HMP Forest Bank.

The death has been referred to the ombudsman.

A spokesperson at HMP Forest Bank said:

“We can confirm that a HMP Forest Bank prisoner died on 4 January 2023. The next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with the family.

"As with all deaths in custody, there will be an investigation by the independent Prisons and Probation Ombudsman and therefore we are unable to comment further at this stage.”
