A fundraiser has been launched aimed at raising as much money as possible in aind of an Irlam woman who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer of the appendix, Pseudomyxoma Peritonei or (PMP) for short.
Claire was diagnosed with the cancer which quickly spread, requiring her to undergo life saving surgery which involved her sadly having several organs removed.
PMP is a rare tumour that grows slowly and causes a build-up of mucin (a jelly-like substance) in the abdomen and pelvis, giving rise to the name “jelly belly”. The cancer often starts in the appendix but can also start in other organs such as the large bowel and ovary.
Claire is still on her journey with PMP and without cancer research and the Christie’s, not many would have been made aware of this cancer.
Her loving and supportive family say that their amazing Claire was given a second chance at life.
Quote"Our family get their mum and nanny for longer.
We would love for you to join us in celebrating Claire’s second chance and help us give back to the Christie’s!"
You can keep up to date with Claire's journey on her Facebook page - Here
For their fundraiser, they have many fun things for all the family, including a DJ, raffle, auction, bake sale, face painting and more!
Children aged 12 and under are free admission (ticket required)
