Returning Officer Jim Taylor said:

“Salford people are very proud and passionate about their city and their community so voting is the ideal way to show the Spirit of Salford.
“Please take a moment to ask family and friends if they have registered to vote and if they haven’t get them to sign up. It takes just five minutes and means you can have your say in choosing councillors to represent your views over the next few years.”
The deadline for registering to vote is midnight on Tuesday April 17 and council officials are preparing for a last minute surge.
Registration takes just a few minutes and can be done online at www.gov.uk/registertovote with free internet access at all Gateway centres and libraries across the city. Or people can register by phone on 0161 793 3195 or in person at Salford Civic Centre, Chorley Road, Swinton with proof of their national insurance number and date of birth.
Anyone not on the electoral register at midnight on April 17 will not be able to vote in the local council elections on May 3.
