Kids Planet Eccles nursery has been raising money for 9-year-old Heidi-Lou, one of the preschool children Roux’s sister, who has recently undergone life-changing surgery for cerebral palsy and needs post-op therapy.

On 16th February, Heidi-Lou underwent SDR at Alder Hey Hospital, which was a huge success, with her surgeon saying it was worthwhile and her mum had done the right thing in not giving up.

The possibility of surgery had been ongoing for the past six years, and Heidi-Lou’s mum was told on numerous occasions she wasn’t the right candidate. It came at a cost, and Heidi’s mum has had to fund it herself, with support from donations, via registered charityHeidi-Lous Happiness.

The family now want to continue to raise money for the therapy that Heidi-Lou needs post-op, which they say goes hand-in-hand with the surgery, with the therapy being just as, if not more important.

Kids Planet Eccles nursery staff and children have done a week of fundraising, from own clothes day, a pie off, toddle walks with the easter bunny, a raffle and a bake off.

“This is a really good cause close to our hearts with Heidi being the sister of Roux at our nursery, so we decided to help with some fundraising. We wanted to raise awareness as well as get rehabilitation for Heidi.

I’m proud of the team; everyone has put their ideas in, from donating toiletries for the hamper, sharing the post, dressing up as a mascot Easter bunny for the toddle walk, and much more. We hope to reach up to £1000 for Heidi and her family and are grateful for the parents’ support.”
