  • MAN ARRESTED AFTER A BRAWL ON ACKWORTH ROAD IN SWINTON ON SUNDAY

    A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of affray and section 18 assault after a fight broke out amongst a group of men armed with weapons in Swinton.

    Police responded to an incident, temporarily closing off Ackworth Road in Swinton at around 4pm on Sunday 8th May, after a member of the public reported a group of men fighting on the street.

    A statement from the police said:

    “We were called at around 4pm on Sunday 8 May to a report of men fighting with weapons on Ackworth Road, Swinton. A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray and section 18 assault. He remains in custody.

    “Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should contact us online via our LiveChat facility, if able, or by calling 101 quoting incident 2179 of 08/05/2022. Details can be passed to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
