  • MAN ARRESTED AND DETAINED UNDER THE MENTAL HEALTH ACT AFTER POLICE CALLED ABOUT SUSPICIOUS CHEMICALS

    A man in his 30's has been arrested and detained under the mental health act after police were called to reports of suspicious materials being found at Brentwood in Seedley at around 1.30am in the early hours of Sunday morning, (October 6th).

    Although after analysis of the materials it was found that they were household products which were legal to own.

    The man was detained under the mental health act, the reasons for doing so were not given.

    In a statement, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said:

    "At around 1.30am on Sunday 6 October 2022, we were called to reports of suspicious materials found at a property in the Brentwood Area of Seedley, Salford.

    "However, following our analysis of the materials they were found to be household products which are not illegal to own.

    "One man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of production of explosives and has been detained under the Mental Health Act."
