  • MANS BODY RECOVERED FROM THE SHIP CANAL CLOSE TO WARBURTON TOLL BRIDGE NEAR CADISHEAD

    Some sad news this evening (Saturday 7th Jan), as it is revealed that the body of a man has been recovered from the waters of the Manchester Ship Canal close to the Warburton Toll Bridge in Cadishead.

    Emergency services were alerted at around 1.45pm this afternoon after a number of reports of a body in the water from the public.

    Sadly paramedics recovered the body of a male who was declared dead at the scene.

    No further details have been given at this stage.

    A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, said:

    "At around 1.45pm today (Saturday, 7th January), firefighters were called to reports of a person in the water near the Warburton Toll Bridge in Cadishead.

    "Firefighters from Irlam and Eccles fire stations quickly attended the scene. Fire crews assisted North West Ambulance Service and Greater Manchester Police to retrieve a body from the water.

    "Sadly, the man was declared deceased at the scene by paramedics."
