Brave Marie has been battling cancer enduring chemotherapy treatment a fight she has vowed to win and knowing fearless Marie, a fight she will win.

She took to the floor as local hairdresser Rhianna Torrance wielded the scissors and electric shaver with local councillor Lewis Nelson and her grandchildren being encouraged to take the first snips of her locks.

With the head shave finished, Marie made a lovely poignant speech thanking people for their generous donations and the volunteers from McMillan who had ferried her to hospital appointments.

Marie then announced that she had personally raised a magnificent £1,351 for the charity.

We can only applaud Marie for both her braveness in the face of this terrible illness and  her determination to raise both money and awareness... we need more Marie's in this world
