The Met Office has issues a yellow snow and ice warning for Thursday and Friday as Polar air pushes south across the UK.
Rain will clear early on Thursday after which it will be feeling much colder with blustery wintry showers.
2-5 cm of snow is likely for some, with 10-20 cm possible over high ground in higher areas.
Road and Rail journeys are expected to be subject to delays as the winter weather rolls southwards across the country.
Motorists are advised to be aware of ice patches forming on roads and to add extra time for journeys.
