The yellow alert for Thunderstorms is in place from 3am on Tuesday until midnight on Wednesday 31st.
Salford is among the areas expected to take see the worst of the storm as it slowly tracks North-Eastwards. There is a possibility of flash flooding in some areas, and drivers are warned to take extra care and attention on the roads due to surface spray and slippery conditions.
Today (30th July), There may be some dry and sunny periods early on, but heavy and thundery showers are expected during the day. They will be frequent during the afternoon, with heavy downpours, a brisk breeze, and a risk of hail. Maximum temperature 23 °C. There is a possibility of localised flooding in some areas, as well as some disruption to travel networks.
This evening heavy showers will continue and last through the night across most of northwest England. There will be blustery winds at times too. Minimum temperature 12 °C.
Tomorrow (31st July), Frequent heavy and thundery downpours are likely throughout the day, with a risk of hail. There will be some brief brighter interludes, and it will be windy at times. Maximum temperature 21 °C.
