Under new proposals put forward by the Boundary Commission for England, both Kersal and Broughton Park wards look set to fall within the Bury South Parliamentary Electoral Constituency.

This will mean that both areas will no longer fall under the Salford Parliamentary Constituency as far as voting for their MP is concerned. This is being done to 'rebalance'  the number of electors in each ward and is set to be finalised not long after being submitted to Parliament on the 1st of July 2023.

Under the current proposals these are the only areas within Salford not to be represented by a Salford MP.

Salford City Council, acting as the local authority will still be responsible for provision of local services and the collection of council tax. These changes only effect which MP and Parliamentary Constituency you fall under.

The BCE are currently consulting until 5 December 2022 on their revised proposals for new constituencies.
