Housebuilder Persimmon donates £1,000 to fund lifesaving emergency medical care in the North West of England.

Since 1999, the North West Air Ambulance Charity has hugely impacted the lives of many across the North West.

The charity’s helicopters and critical care cars operate 365 days a year, covering an area of 5,500 square miles. Specialist doctors and helicopter emergency medical service paramedics are on board, bringing the hospital to the scene of the incident for those in a medical emergency.

Just as the many critically ill and injured patients would not have survived without the service the charity provides. The North West Air Ambulance Charity would not be here without the support of its community of fundraisers and partners. The charity is not part of the NHS and doesn’t receive any government funding. They rely entirely on public and corporate donations to carry on saving lives. The North West Air Ambulance Charity must raise over £12 million every year to continue its lifesaving service.

To contribute to funding these life-saving services, North West Air Ambulance Charity has received a donation of £1,000 through housing developer Persimmon’s Community Champions scheme.

The programme operated by Persimmon is open to charities, community groups and local organisations and has made donations of over £1.5 million in the last two years. Donations of up to £6,000 are available to local community and charitable groups every quarter, with applications received via the Community Champions website.

John Roocroft, Regional Chairman Persimmon Scotland and North West England Region met the team from North West Air Ambulance Charity at their airbase in Barton, Greater Manchester, to hand over a £1,000 cheque to help the charity continue saving lives.
